At Harmony Within Massage Therapy, we understand that massage therapy can take on a very different meaning when someone is navigating cancer treatment, a serious illness, recovery, or hospice care.
Our approach is gentle, individualized and centered around comfort, dignity and the unique needs of each person. Oncology and medically informed massage sessions are carefully adapted to the client’s current condition, treatment considerations and goals. Sessions can be lying face up, comfortable clothes remaining on and with no oil or lotion and in a bed if this is what is needed.
We also provide in-home massage therapy for hospice and palliative care clients, allowing individuals and their families to receive compassionate therapeutic touch without the stress of traveling to an office.
Oncology Massage Therapy
Massage during cancer care requires a thoughtful and individualized approach. Sessions can be adapted according to the client’s treatment, energy level, symptoms and comfort.
Our goal is not to treat or cure cancer, but to provide supportive massage therapy that may help promote relaxation, comfort, stress reduction and an improved sense of well-being.
If the client is receiving chemotherapy I can treat them a minimum of 48 hours after receiving a treatment wearing gloves. I can not massage directly on a radiation site.
Hospice & Palliative Massage
For individuals receiving hospice or palliative care, massage can be adapted to prioritize comfort and gentle, supportive touch.
Sessions may take place in the home, hospice setting or other appropriate care environment, depending on the client’s needs and circumstances.
We focus on creating a peaceful experience while respecting the individual’s wishes, dignity and comfort.
In-Home Medical & Hospice Massage
When leaving home isn’t practical or comfortable, Harmony Within Massage Therapy may be able to bring specialized massage care to you.
In-home services are available by appointment for qualifying situations and may be particularly appropriate for individuals receiving hospice, palliative or medically supportive care.
